About the Artist
Josh Island’s sound has been likened to a melting pot of John Mayer, Damien Rice and Jason Mraz, combining intimate singer-songwriter melodies with upbeat folk and warm soul-blues. He came into the club in 2017, on our first performance at the legendary Kulturfabrik, in Esch-sur-Alzette, becoming our youngest member to date.
This versatile singer-songwriter has shared stages with some international acts, including Mighty Oaks, Leslie Clio and Alex Vargas, and has shared festivals together with headliners such as The Lumineers and Jake Bugg. Award-winning musician John Butler quoted that Josh has “a great voice and plays guitar impressively well.”
Even at the young age of 19, Josh has the ability to write intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics while intertwining them into his catchy sounds, managing to draw audiences into his musical world. Josh appreciates the value of engaging live music, and enjoys being involved in other aspects of the music business, such as writing concert reviews, interviewing international touring artists, and hosting his radio show.
Besides his political studies in the Netherlands, he is recording his debut release in Paris while continuing to tour and play shows around Europe.
