About the Artist

Sitta was inducted into The Grund Club Songwriters as a singer in June 2015 and is one of our core singers.

Swiss-born vocalist and a daughter of an Iranian opera singer and a Berlin stage actor, Sitta’s early influences were: her mother, musical icon Maria Callas, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott just to name a few.

Having had her first vocal training in Opera Singing by her mother, followed by two years of private training in classical singing, she spent 3 years at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Zurich where she broadened her 4 octave vocal span in the genres of R’n’B, Soul and Jazz. Her love for traveling and humanity’s manifold cultural expressions, exposed her to further ethnic styles such as African, Brazilian and Indian, not to forget the wealth of her own cultural heritage, Persian music. This also reflects itself in Sitta’s participation as a guest vocalist with various artists, such as Merge of Equals, Espresso del Lago, Minus 8 and Eduardo Nascimento both on their albums as well as live.

Having gathered her very first experiences on stage in her early childhood days, as part of a background choir, together with her two sisters at her mother’s concerts, Sitta continued to participate in many diverse projects. She sang upper soprano in the Voices of Bahá Choir, which performed in New York, twice, last time at Carnegie Hall in 2002. The same year she also joined the Bahá’í Gospel Singers performing at the Manhattan Concert Hall. Moreover, during 10 years she was a part of a female R’n’B vocal group in Switzerland called “The Fine Groove“ performing covers of artists such as Alicia Keys, Monica or Beyoncé.

In Luxembourg, Sitta has become a vivid part of the regional music scene, collaborating with local artists and performing on events organized by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.

In The Grund Club Luxembourg she was our third singer inductee and has performed 7 times for The Grund Club Songwriters Show, hosting it in March 2016. She is also regularly featured in The Grund Club Voices Show and has represented the club in that capacity many times.
